Staying at the University House, you are centrally located for a wine adventure! Some wineries require appointments and others are open during regular business hours. In our view, there are two ways to see the diversity of wineries available and we recommend both for the full vinifera experience. Go to the large wineries to tour the vineyards and winery facilities, speak to well-trained and knowledgeable staff, and taste a full palate of their offerings. Generally you will not meet the winemaker on this type of visit. For a more intimate and educational experience, seek out the small wineries off the beaten path. Most times you need advance reservations for this type of exploration, but it's worth the trouble.
